The Constitution of 1791

Today it is finalized! All of our work, debates, riots and struggle was well worth it. I would do it again if I had to. I always tell my children to fight for what you believe in, but the past few years I've had the chance to show them that I practice what I preach. Today the King signed the constitution that the Nation Assembly had argued over for two years! It was finally completed, it and will insure the freedom and rights for French citizens; starting now and not ending ever. The king no longer has "divine right" the Legislative assmbly holds the power to create laws and accept or reject declarations of war.  He was reluctant in signing it but he signed it in the end. France will never be the same, and that is worth all the chanlleges we had to overcome to get here.

  1. HUZZAH! My fellow bourgeoisie, I concur! At last Louis is stripped of most of his power! A period of suffering and debt is over for the wonderful members of the Third Estate! Finally, WE, the National Assembly and the legislature, can control France in the name of its people! We are instantly more unified, for we are not under the rule of that that one crazy absolute monarch who did not care for the well-being of his people! Alas, we are another large step closer to a better France!
